We think we are mostly done jumping through the hoops to get our visas. It was an interesting experience. . .
The process was actually quite efficient, but rather swift and sudden. We had to go to two different police stations to get finger-printed, one with literally minutes of notice. At Interpol, we also were questioned about various personal items – do you know your height and weight in metric measurements?
Now I do! We spent one morning at a government-run clinic to get our physicals, which included going in many different rooms to be weighed, measured, x-rayed, to pee in a jar with no lid (very sanitary), to have our blood pressure taken, to have our teeth checked, to have blood drawn. . . you get the idea. If anyone is interested in filming a movie about life in a hospital in the 1950’s, I know a good place in La Paz for you to go! Avery was a trooper going to all these places, and the other Highlands staff were wonderful in helping us to entertain her. Our business manager, Jorge, was very patient with all of us gringos. Now we just wait until we get word that we are officially allowed to stay in the country for a year.
