Snapshots of Our Bolivian Christmastime

We haven’t posted too many pictures lately on our blog, so I thought this might be a fun time to add some. . .

Last Saturday, we hosted our community group for a great time of singing carols, reading Scripture and sharing Christmas memories. We served dinner to nearly 40 people in our apartment!

Here’s Avery with our humble Christmas tree. Artificial trees here are pretty expensive for the quality that is available, so we went with a fairly small tree. We are usually “white light people”, but since we don’t have many ornaments, we went for the colored lights. Our lights have 8 settings, and we have them set on “combination”. Hopefully the people across the street aren’t getting seizures from the lights switching on and off so many different ways!

Avery and her friend Abby made “Christmas mice” today. We hope we can get Avery to save the candy cane until our trip on the airplane. We think sucking on it might help her ears when they pop. . .

This was Avery’s project/Christmas present she brought home from preschool. Although we are very proud of her artistic abilities, we have to say we don’t really “get” this project. We don’t know if it is supposed to be something other than a large plank of wood. Perhaps something was lost in translation. . . Tom’s comment was “very Montessori”.

Glad to see Kitty is also enjoying the very Montesorri gift. Avery looks like an artist at her first gallery exhibit.
I think it is a Montesorri Christmas tree. It has a star at the top, a bell ornament and many strands of colored lights.
